Macaroni Gratin

Macaroni gratin is a comforting baked pasta dish featuring tender macaroni coated in a creamy sauce and topped with a layer of melted cheese

unsalted butter
15 ml
all-purpose flour
480 g
whole milk
170 g
macaroni
50 g
gruyere cheese
30 ml
panko

frozen peas

yellow onion
boil water and cook the macaroni while you make the rest of the meal. Preheat the oven to 450ºF
slice the onion and mushrooms and cut the chicken into 1" pieces
melt butter over medium heat in a skillet and add chicken and onion. The butter is gonna be used to cook the chicken and veggies, but will also be used for the bechamel later
one the chicken is no longer pink, add the mushrooms and mix
create a Mornay Sauce in the skillet with the flour, milk, and half the gruyère
add the cooked macaroni into the sauce and stil well to combine
place in a ramekin and top with the remaining gruyère and panko breadcrumbs
place in the oven and cook until the cheese is melted and the panko is nicely browed, ~15 minutes
