Easy Red Sauce

extra virgin olive oil
unsalted butter

yellow onion
, medium, diced, medium, diced

garlic

oregano

red pepper flakes

canned whole san marzano tomatoes
basil

heat olive oil and butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat until butter has melted. Add onion and cook until softened ~3 mins
Add garlic, oregano, pepper flakes and cook until fragrant ~1 min
add tomatoes and basil and bring to a simmer. Cook until thickened to 4 cups ~30 mins
season to taste with salt
