cut the cheese into sticks about 3" long and 1/2" wide
Prep the breading area with 3 shallow bowls. Add flour seasoned with salt and pepper to the first. Beat the eggs in the second. Combine the panko, oregano, basil, salt, garlic powder, onion powder and black pepper in the third
Dredge: Lightly coat each cheese stick in the seasoned flour, ensuring an even coating. Shake off any excess. Egg Wash: Submerge the floured cheese stick in the egg wash, allowing the excess to drip off. Coat: Roll the cheese stick in the seasoned panko mixture, pressing gently to ensure adhesion
Freeze for 1 hour. Freezing the mozzarella sticks helps keep the cheese from melting too quickly during frying and maintain shape.
Heat the oil to 350°F
Working in batches to avoid overcrowding, carefully lower the cheese sticks into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crisp, approximately 1-2 minutes.
