movie-style popcorn
by taira
coconut oil is used in theaters because it's rich, has a high smoke point, and is shelf-stable while not requiring refrigeration. Flavacol is used to give it that buttery, salty flavor if you want to add more color, you can use coconut oil with beta carotene
22 ml
coconut oil
60 g
popcorn
, kernels, kernels
2.5 ml
flavacol
in a pot over medium heat add the oil and 3 kernels. Once the kernels have popped, we know the oil has reached the desired temperature
add the rest of the kernels and flavacol. Mix to combine and cover with a lid but leave it slightly ajar so steam can escape
once the popcorn start popping, gently shake the pot occasionally to prevent burning. When popping slows to several seconds between pops, remove from heat.
Pour the popcorn into a large bowl. Add extra seasoning as desired
